About

Looking ahead, it seems pretty uncertain as to where we’ll all be in 50 years. And what I mean by that doesn’t actually pertain to our locations, careers, or everyday hobbies.

Rather, I’m talking about our global future. Humanity’s plight, from what it looks like here and now, is taking form in the guise of an environmental backlash. And what’s worse is that we’re not taking it as seriously as we should be.

As it stands now, the Earth has seen such an incredible rise in greenhouse gases in just the past 150 years alone. While a lot of naysayers like to say “the Earth has done this before even before humans”, they neglect the fact that it’s directly tied to our actions and global landscaping in those 150 years. Apparently it’s just coincidence to them that both of these changes have happened alongside one another.

So, too many people are writing this off because it isn’t directly affecting their day to day lives. Is global warming affecting us in the here and now? Well, not me in the smack dab middle of the U.S. No.

But is it affecting other people around the world? Yes. With rising ocean levels and more poisonous waters, port cities in some areas of the world are becoming flooded and other economies are taking a hit because of water pollution. To say that global warming and the decline of the environment’s health is affecting zero people right now is blasphemous.

What we need to do is take action. Going green is not a hard thing to do. The problem is our laziness. We refuse to look at our future generations as being heavily impacted by all of these issues, so we put it off and we put it off. When, in actuality, it’s as simple as recycling, using less energy, owning fewer things, and reducing our waste in general.

Here’s the thing I can say relate this all to: life insurance. By having a great life insurance policy, you’re making sure that those you love (i.e., not yourself) are taken care of down the road. Well, what’s the difference in protecting our planet? While it may not impact you down the road because you’ll be gone from this world, you’ll at least have made a better life for your kids and their kids and so on 50 to 100 years from now.
